ANU ZA KABUKI is the southern hemisphere's oldest Kabuki troupe. We are based in the Australian National University, and we perform traditional Japanese theatre to an Australian audience.

INTRODUCTION

This play follows the story of the dashing protagonist, Danshichi Kurobē, a commoner who defends ordinary townspeople against the warrior class. Having been recently released from jail after wounding a retainer under the notorious Ōtori Sagaemon, Danshichi reunites with his family and friends while his villaninous father-in-law plans to steal and sell off the lover of Isonojō, the samurai who saved Danshichi’s life. Get ready for a thrilling action and comedy pla, coming mid December 2021!
